40 years of SDS, what we have learned

Professor Tim Stainton works at the University of British Columbia School of Social Work and is Co-Director of the Canadian Institute for Inclusion and Citizenship. He is one of the most important pioneers in the field of self-directed support, working as a practitioner, a policy maker and researcher. He contributed to the Seattle 2000 Declaration on Self-Determination & Individualised Funding and has advised many international initiatives on Self-Directed Support. Tim will be interviewed by Dr Simon Duffy of the Centre for Welfare Reform and Citizen Network. The session will cover:

- The long-history of Self-Directed Support - progress and struggles

- What the research tells us - and what it does not tell us

- What are we learning about successful implementation - and the hazards

The session will be presented in English, and with live Spanish translation. A recording will be made available.
